Tesla is recalling more than 1.8 million vehicles due to a potential issue with the hood latch assembly that could obstruct the driver’s view and increase the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Tesla faulty hood latch recall affects the following models:
- 2021-2024 Model 3
- 2021-2024 Model S
- 2021-2024 Model X
- 2020-2024 Model Y
The electric automaker reported that the latch assembly for 17 of its new and used cars might not detect when the hood is open. Fortunately, Tesla is unaware of any crashes, injuries, or deaths related to this issue.
To resolve the problem, Tesla will release a free software update. Owners will be notified by mail on September 22 and can contact Tesla’s customer service at (877) 798-3752 with recall number SB-24-00-012.
