Tesla’s recall numbers surged in 2024, with the automaker recalling more than 5.1 million vehicles, making it the leader in recalls for the year.
Despite a slowdown in sales, Tesla unseated Ford, which had held the top spot in vehicle recalls. The 2024 vehicle recalls were spread across Tesla’s lineup, including its new Cybertruck, which experienced multiple issues.
In comparison, Chrysler and Ford followed closely behind with over 4.8 million vehicles recalled each. Chrysler, which oversees brands like Jeep and Dodge, issued the most recalls with 72 but focused primarily on rearview camera issues and faulty stability control systems. Ford faced continued problems with hybrid vehicles and turbocharged engines, while Honda grappled with steering gearbox defects.
Despite the high number of recalls, experts note that such actions are vital for safety, signaling that automakers are proactively addressing issues.
