Mazda’s complimentary three-year Connected Services trial is ending for some customers, sparking dissatisfaction on social media over the new $10 monthly subscription fee required to continue accessing features like remote start.
Mazda has been transparent about offering Connected Services as a free trial for new car buyers since its launch in 2019. Although the company extended the trial period for some users, it now appears these extensions are concluding. Many owners are reluctant to pay for features like remote start, which were previously included with key fobs.
The company has consistently advertised this service as a complimentary three-year trial requiring a subscription afterward. The Mazda Connected Services fee will cover remote start, remote keyless entry, vehicle health information, service alerts, vehicle finder, automatic 911 calling, and more.
Mazda is among several automakers introducing subscription services for vehicle features, which previously required only a one-time payment. BMW, for instance, attempted to charge for heated seats but faced significant backlash. Despite this, other automakers like Toyota, Audi, and Mercedes have also implemented subscription fees for certain features.
