American Honda is recalling approximately 295,000 Honda and Acura vehicles in the U.S. due to a software issue that could cause engines to lose power, hesitate, or stall. The Honda and Acura recall affects models from 2021 to 2025, including the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX Type S and TLX Type S.
The problem stems from improper programming of the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU), which may trigger the check engine light and lead to sudden changes in throttle response. Honda identified the issue through telematics data and has not received reports of crashes or injuries related to the defect.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive mailed notices in March instructing them to visit authorized Honda or Acura dealerships for a free software update.
Drivers can also check if their vehicle is included by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or www.recalls.acura.com or calling (888) 234-2138.
Honda urges owners to address the issue promptly to reduce the risk of potential safety hazards.
