Owners of Fisker Ocean electric vehicles will be responsible for repair costs related to recent recalls, as the bankrupt automaker announced it cannot cover labor expenses.
A notice on Fisker’s website states that while the company will supply necessary parts free of charge, it will not pay for the labor associated with inspections or repairs due to its ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
The availability of replacement parts remains uncertain. Fisker aims to deliver parts to authorized service providers by the end of September, which may not be timely for owners affected by multiple recalls. In June alone, the company issued three Fisker Ocean recalls, including one for doors that might not open. An additional recall in July addressed potential water pump failures affecting 7,545 vehicles.
Although Fisker continues to roll out free over-the-air software updates to fix certain issues — such as a regenerative braking problem that led to another recall in August—some defects require physical repairs that software cannot resolve. Without a dealer network to handle recall work, customers are left to coordinate and pay for repairs independently.
