Hollywood star Keanu Reeves took to the racetrack for his professional auto racing debut this Saturday at the renowned Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Despite a spin-out on the exit of Turn 9 during the race, Reeves showed resilience by re-entering the track and continuing the race, unharmed.
Competing in the Toyota GR Cup — a spec-racing series part of this weekend’s Indy 8 Hour sports car event — Reeves started in 31st position out of 35 cars. He impressively maneuvered up to the 21st position, skillfully avoiding an initial crash in Turn 14, and ultimately finished in 25th place.
At 60 years old, Keanu Reeves racing is not a new thing; he previously won the celebrity race at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in 2009. His current race car, the No. 92 BRZRKR, promotes his graphic novel “The Book of Elsewhere.” He shares his racing team with Cody Jones of “Dude Perfect.”
Reeves will compete in a second race on Sunday and is also set to attend a 30th anniversary screening of his film “Speed” in Los Angeles next Tuesday, alongside co-star Sandra Bullock.
