Acura has issued a recall for 5,031 units of its new 2024 ZDX electric vehicle due to a software issue that could lead to brake failure.
The Acura recall, which mirrors a similar one by Cadillac for its Lyriq SUV, involves a problem with the anti-lock braking system (ABS) that may cause the brakes to lose pressure during certain low-speed braking events.
Acura informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the issue occurs below 25 mph on dry surfaces, where overly sensitive ABS control could bleed pressure out of the braking system, potentially reducing stopping performance or rendering the service brakes inoperative.
The solution is a straightforward software update. Most owners will receive the update over the air if they have accepted remote update permissions. Those with stricter system settings may need to visit a dealer to install the fix.
